Distinguished Young Woman of Kinston-Greene County, Wilson, NC, USA

Kinston's Junior Miss was started in 1974. The program name was changed in 2011 to The Distinguished Young Women of Kinston.

Distinguished Young Women is a national scholarship program that inspires high school girls to develop their full, individual potential through a fun, transformative experience that culminates in a celebratory showcase of their accomplishments.
• By encouraging continued education and providing college scholarships
• By developing self-confidence and the abilities to interview effectively, to speak in public, to perform on stage and to build interpersonal relationships
• By encouraging and showcasing excellence in academic achievement, physical fitness, on-stage performance skills, and the ability to think and communicate clearly
• By creating opportunities to beneficially inspire the lives of others

The Kinston program has a long-standing tradition of empowering women to "Be Your Best Self," through being healthy, being involved, being studious, being ambitious, being responsible and being your best self.

The Distinguished Young Women of Kinston is open to young women who are juniors in high school and live within the city limits of Kinston. We are proud to announce that this year we are opening the program to the young ladies of Greene County. This year, we will name the first Distinguished Young Women of Kinston-Greene County.
